Donate
As a 501(c)3 organization, Southern Mississippi Planning & Development District (SMPDD) can accept donations from residents and the business community to help fund our important services. Two key service areas are: donations to help fund our home-delivered meals program for seniors, and donations to help fund emergency and financial assistance for seniors.
Home-Delivered Meals
The Area Agency on Aging’s mission is to keep seniors in the home as long as possible. One way this is accomplished is through home-delivered meals. Once a senior becomes too frail to leave home, it is imperative that they still get the proper nutrition they so desperately need. The home-delivered meals program offers seniors 5 daily meals a week. These are delivered to the comfort of their homes. They are frozen meals which have been developed by a certified nutrition vendor.
Below are the ways you can contribute to the home-delivered meals program:
One-time donation
Sponsor a senior for as low as $85.46 a month; feeds a senior 5 meals a week for 4 weeks or:
4 weeks – $85.46
13 weeks – $277.75
26 weeks – $555.49
52 weeks – $1,110.98
When you give to the home-delivered meals program, you can be assured that 100% of your donation goes to the meals for seniors. No administrative fees are deducted.
Emergency Assistance
In addition to the services SMPDD currently funds, we are searching for ways to meet all of the needs of the ever-growing aging population. One area that we have found is Emergency Assistance. Our aging population includes many frail and vulnerable elderly who have limited incomes, leaving several of them unable to pay their utilities and other expenses. Each year, we host a 10K fundraiser for Emergency Assistance. Please check back on our website for more details. We also can take donations for this cause at any time.
